The company was established with the aim of developing new, improved methods of Uranium yellowcake drying and packing. For the last 30 years Yellowcake (U3O8) has been produced using an Ammonia precipitation with conversion to U3O8 via a high temperature calciner above 750°CMore recently Adelaide Control Engineering has gained experience with a Hydrogen Peroxide precipitation and low temperature indirect drying at less than 300°C to produce UO4.2H2O Traditionally the production, transport and storage of large volumes of Ammonia is quite hazardous and poses a great risk to the plant and surrounding people should there be a leak or Ammonia accident. One of our current aims is to produce more environmentally friendly UO4.2H2O using the process equipment (Calciner at low temperatures less than 300°C) to give operating mines the opportunity to change their process and produce a safer product with less environmental and personal risks. |
